Mineralized, sparkling, spring, mineral, tap, and boiled – regardless of the type of water we drink, it is essential for life and positively affects the body's functioning. After just a few days of drinking it in appropriate amounts, we will notice a change in our well-being and an improvement in our external appearance. However, it's often hard to motivate oneself to drink water, especially since for many people, the lack of taste is a significant obstacle. How to drink and serve water to benefit from all its advantages?

Benefits of drinking water
Water is a resource without which life on Earth – for humans, animals, and plants alike – would not be possible. Its discovery is crucial in visions of space colonization; it is the most important element of humanitarian aid, a reason for migration, and found in all cosmetics, beverages, and dishes. Almost nothing in the world can exist without it.
What is a treasure for some is an everyday reality for Western inhabitants. However, even though we have access to running tap water, and store shelves are filled with its bottled version, we still drink too little. And that's a shame, because dehydration is the cause of many ailments that can be easily remedied with a glass of water.
One of the symptoms of water deficiency is the so-called "little hunger." If we have a problem with snacking, simply drinking a glass of plain tap water can change our daily habits. It also regulates the function of organs responsible for cleansing the body of toxins, such as the liver and kidneys. If we have a problem with swelling, it's a sign that the body is signaling a lack of water and storing it – a glass of water will alleviate the feeling of puffiness. Thanks to water, the skin is elastic, and hair remains in good condition. It is invaluable in fighting headaches. It also has a significant impact on concentration – it's worth having it with you during an exam or a difficult meeting.
Can you overdo it with water?
A healthy person should drink one 300 ml glass of water per 10 kilograms of body weight. This amount is sufficient to meet all the body's needs. However, one must also be careful not to overdo it with water, because it too – like everything else – is harmful in excess. Too much of it can flush sodium, an essential component for the body, out of the system. In Poland, however, people are still warned against excessive sodium intake, so water will rather be our ally than our enemy.
Lack of taste
Water is characterized by its lack of taste, smell, color, as well as calories, harmful additives, or flavors. It can give various sensations in the mouth depending on its temperature, hardness, mineral content, and amount of carbon dioxide, but for many people, this is still not enough to give up sweetened drinks, coffee, or tea for it. Fortunately, there are ways to change the taste of water without affecting its properties. Incidentally, it will also look beautiful in glass bottles and decanters.
Water with fruit
One of the most popular ways to change the taste of water is to add fruit to it. Scrubbed, or even better, scalded and cut into pieces, citrus fruits, pineapple, nectarines, blueberries, strawberries, currants… When it comes to adding fruit to water, there are no limits. Just cut them, put them in a jug, and pour water over them, and after a dozen or so minutes, you will get a slightly sweet, fruity liquid. It is not fattening, contains no sugar, and tastes refreshing.
In the case of fruit in a pitcher, there is only one problem – they can fall into glasses or tumblers, or cause the water to spill. Fortunately, there's a simple solution. Just skewer them onto a long wooden kebab stick and then place them in the pitcher or carafe. This solution works for all fruits!
Water with… vegetables
When experimenting with the taste of water, we can also add vegetables to it. Fresh cucumbers will be the best – they will make its taste refreshing. If we want to change its color to pink, we can add a bit of beetroot juice to water full of citrus fruits and mix it thoroughly. It will quickly change color without affecting the taste.
Water and herbs
Water perfectly complements herbs. They only subtly affect its taste, while a jug full of green leaves and sprigs will look beautiful on the table at any party. The choice is wide – it can simply be mint, which wonderfully enhances the taste of water both solo and in duet with citrus fruits. Basil can also be added to water – especially purple basil will look original and somewhat autumnal. Rosemary or parsley will give the water a delicately dry taste. The combination of lemon balm with orange and lime with sage or coriander is unique. Experimenting with herbs will allow you to discover previously unknown flavors.

Ginger water
Making ginger water requires a bit more effort, but drinking it will bring many benefits from this exotic root. The evening before, boil pieces of ginger in water for 15 minutes – the amount depends on the intensity and spiciness of the desired taste – and then leave the pot with the liquid to cool overnight. In the morning, fresh pieces of ginger should be put into a jug and poured over with the water in which the root was boiled. The resulting taste will be very intense, spicy, and warming – perfect for winter days.
Cinnamon water
Cinnamon water has a very specific taste. It will perfectly complement festive snacks and warm you up on winter days. To prepare it, you should pour 1.5 liters of water over 2-3 cinnamon sticks and leave it overnight. We can experiment with adding star anise or cloves to this water, which are associated with Christmas.
Water and flowers
An intriguing combination is water with a hint of flowers. Lavender or roses are perfect for this. To prepare the infusion, pour water over the flowers and leave to cool covered. Then, the essence – preferably just a cup, as a larger amount might give a "perfumed" water sensation – should be poured into the pitcher, fresh rose or lavender flowers inserted, and then filled with water, stirring. Such water will not only look wonderful on the table but will also surprise with its unusual taste.
