Krosno glass is made to deepen the moments you spend in the favourite corners of your home. That promise finds its fullest expression in handmade glass. This most singular discipline of our craft carries a wealth of values — some you see at once in the formed glass, others you simply sense. No other technique can achieve what shaping by hand achieves.
The whole secret of handmade production lives in the glassmaker. Experience in this craft accrues over years of work; mastery is sometimes measured in whole decades. A craftsman and a blowpipe — the tool the glass is blown through — have been the heart of glassmaking since it began. Two elements, the vast majority of the process, fused together across millennia. Today the trade is a rarity, and time only deepens how rare glass made by hand has become.
Mass production keeps finding new efficiencies, but handmaking walks its own path: the closer it stays to tradition, the more it is prized. Every master of the craft has their own ways of shaping signature glass. The secret lies not only in the final forming of the piece, but in the recipe where the molten glass begins. Beyond superior quality and clarity, each piece carries its own individuality — every one in a series has traits of its own, a character and an identity.
KROSNO stands for a century of glassmaking. Our mastery is no longer counted in decades but in a full hundred years of glassmakers’ work. The glassworks is an icon of Polish glassmaking and a name that stands out on the world stage, present on nearly 70 markets. Collaborations with a host of artists and world-renowned designers confirm what makes the brand exceptional. So does a school of glassmaking mastery that ran for over 40 years on the company grounds.
Glass made by hand has qualities no other method of production can reach. The material can take on extraordinarily complex shapes — which is why artists keep returning to glass as a medium of free expression. The clarity and lustre of handmade pieces reach the highest values whatever the form. Handmade glass can also be remarkably delicate and fine, with ultra-thin walls and joins in the material that are almost invisible.
Under high heat, glass becomes a pliable mass, ideal for forming. Shaped with simple tools in the hands of a craftsman who puts gravity and his own vision to creative use, it becomes something quietly wonderful. For a century, hand-forming has given Krosno glass an endless variety of striking forms and shapes, alive with lines and refractions.
Our Handmade portfolio is made up of collections we present in our 2020 interior trends catalogue. Nothing in them is left to chance: however different they look, they share a deep knowledge of glass and an inventive approach to design.
