Autumn home decorations – how to make them?

Autumn home decorations - KROSNO blog

Multicoloured leaves, heather, chestnuts and acorns falling from trees are beautiful symbols of autumn, thanks to which it is not only associated with cloudy weather or shorter days. If you want to bring some autumnal atmosphere into your home, you can prepare original decorations yourself using elegant KROSNO products. Read our article to find out how to do it!

Autumn home decorations - where to get materials?

Sunny autumn is a time for walks in parks and forests, where you can easily find various treasures of nature. A little imagination is all it takes to turn them into charming autumn room decorations that will change its character and make the interior cosy and atmospheric.

To prepare autumn table decorations, you can use, among others:

  • coloured leaves (e.g. oak, maple, hornbeam or hazel),
  • rowan flowers,
  • rosehip fruits,
  • chestnuts and acorns,
  • heather,
  • pieces of bark,
  • seasonal vegetables and fruits,
  • twigs.

Autumn decorations - light compositions

Creating unique autumn light decorations yourself is very simple and does not require much work.

  • Compositions with colourful leaves

Elegant candleholders from Krosno Glass look great in a duet with colourful leaves, collected in the garden or park. If you want to conjure up such a composition, all you need is a plate, multicoloured leaves and a large glass candleholder.

Arrange the leaves on a plate, then place the candleholder in the middle and put a candle in it, for example, with the scent of orange and cinnamon or apples and cloves. Depending on the selected leaves and candles, you can create many autumn table decorations that will bring a unique atmosphere to your home.

  • Nut candles

If you want to surprise your household or guests with a self-made light decoration, nut candles are a hit! You only need half walnuts, wax and candle wicks. You can use old, unused candles for this. First, cut the wicks into sections equal to the depth of half of the nut shell. Then you need to melt the wax, attach the wicks to the bottom of the shells, and pour the wax over the whole thing. After hardening, you will get unique candles, which you just need to put into glass salad bowls and place on the table. Make as many of them as possible - this way you will get a truly spectacular effect!

Autumn table decoration - bouquets

From autumn gifts of nature, you can easily make original bouquets, which, just like compositions of cut flowers, simply need to be placed in a glass vase.

  • Bouquet of leaves

Take two leaves in complementary or, conversely, contrasting colours. Fold the first one in half and wrap it in the shape of a rose centre, then wrap it with the second leaf. Tie the whole thing with a thread or sew it, so that the flower will hold better. In an analogous way, make several more flowers and combine them into a bouquet.

You can attach the ready bouquet to twigs and then place it in an asymmetrical KROSNO vase, which will perfectly highlight the beauty of the composition you have created. A vase in this style will certainly appeal especially to fans of modern and avant-garde arrangements.

  • Seasonal flowers

Autumn is abundant in chrysanthemums, marigolds, heather, echinacea and dahlias, among others. Polish gardens are usually full of colourful plants until November, which you can use to make unique, autumnal table decorations. Although the choice of flowers is an individual matter, the key to skilfully highlighting their beauty is the right vase.

A few single, long chrysanthemums or echinacea will look best in a tall and slender vase, while relatively small heather or marigolds will look most beautiful in a plump vase.

Autumn decorations on glass

Glass fruit or cake stands are excellent as an element of autumn home decoration. For example, an elegant cake stand with a cloche, which is a decoration in itself, is perfect for this. You can place everything you find during a walk on it - chestnuts, acorns, pine cones and flowers. An interesting complement to such an original composition will be seasonal fruits (e.g. apples, pears or cranberries) or nuts.
