Bouquets of cut flowers in vases
Bouquets of cut flowers are the most popular and versatile type of floral decoration, suitable for various occasions. Fresh flowers in an elegant vase will brighten up a room and bring positive energy into it. They will also be a beautiful table decoration – provided that the vessel harmonizes appropriately with the flower bouquet.
The most versatile are transparent, glass flower vases, a wide selection of which can be found in our offer. They suit flowers of any color and certainly won't dominate the decoration. Furthermore, they beautifully scatter light and fully display the plants. Vases made of colored glass or with original, colorful applications are also an interesting proposition. When opting for such a solution, however, it is worth choosing the color scheme of the floral decorations to match the color of the vessel. A vase slightly darker than the dominant color in the bouquet will emphasize the vibrant hue of the flowers while maintaining the coherence of the composition.
The appropriate height of the vase in relation to the flowers is also important. They should make up slightly less than half of the total height of the composition, with the vessel accounting for the remaining, slightly taller part. Such proportions not only look very impressive but also ensure the stability of the entire decoration. The shape of the flower vase should also be matched to the bouquet. For example, narrow and slender vases are ideal for single flowers (e.g., roses, anthuriums, or sunflowers) or thin, light bouquets, while wider and lower ones are suitable for oval or round bouquets.
Finally, it's worth taking care to properly prepare the flowers for the vase. The vessel should be filled with water approximately halfway up. Before placing the flowers in the vase, remove the leaves from the part of the stem that will be submerged in water. The bouquet can be arranged directly in the vessel by inserting plants individually and maintaining the chosen direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise). A more difficult method is to arrange the bouquet in hand so that the flower stems are spirally arranged. To prolong the freshness of the plants, the stem should also be diagonally trimmed by 1-2 cm with each water change – ideally daily.
Floral decorations for various tables and occasions
For many occasions – such as birthdays or name days – the choice of flower species for table decoration can be freer than for bouquets given as gifts, as the symbolism of flowers is not as significant. When a bouquet is to stand in an ornamental vase as a decoration, the most important thing is whether it matches the overall table decor (including the tablecloth, dinnerware, napkins, and other decorations) and whether the chosen flowers together form an aesthetic whole.
For round tables, floral decorations are best placed in the center (a single vase or three decorations will work perfectly if the table is very large). Rectangular tables offer more freedom. Bouquets are then placed in the central part, ideally at equal intervals along the entire length of the table or in groups of three. Vases with flowers, of course, should not take up too much space on the table or obstruct guests' access to food and eye contact with fellow diners. Too intense a scent of flowers is also not advisable.
For certain occasions, however, the type and color of floral decorations are more significant. A good example is christenings and communions, where white usually dominates (symbolizing innocence, purity, and humility), possibly complemented by powder pink, green, or light tea shades. Miniature roses, gypsophila, spray chrysanthemums (e.g., Anastasia White and Santini), lily of the valley, and jasmine are particularly well-suited as components of floral decorations for a communion or christening table.
Floral decorations – not just bouquets in vases
Floral decorations are not just bouquets, and the latter do not necessarily have to be placed in a vase. Smaller bouquets will look beautiful in small glass bowls, chalices, or dessert cups from KROSNO. In the case of smaller resources or lack of time, this allows for simpler but more numerous decorations, which can be evenly distributed on the table.
Floral decorations will also make a beautiful adornment for candleholders. More delicate candleholders on a stem can be decorated with a small wreath, for which small flowers, florist's tape, and a hoop or wire are sufficient. Larger, cylindrical candleholders can be placed in a large wreath. In this case, a floral foam in the shape of a circle, into which trimmed flower stems are inserted after soaking it in water, will be useful.
A simple but lovely floral decoration can also be created on a decorative glass plate or platter. An example is a christening decoration with a candle in the center of the plate or platter. On the outside of the vessel, simply arrange a small wreath of gypsophila sprigs, consisting of three circles, whose diameter decreases from the bottom, largest, to the top, smallest.
Floral decorations in glass – bulb flowers
Another interesting idea is floral decorations in glass, where bulb flowers are used instead of cut flowers. For this purpose, you can use flowers such as hyacinths, crocuses, grape hyacinths, netted irises, tulips, daffodils, and jonquils (the last three preferably in low-growing varieties). These types of floral decorations look most effective when the plants protrude slightly from the vessel or fit entirely within it, creating a beautiful miniature garden in glass. It is therefore best to place them in glass tableware with a larger diameter, such as large glass bowls and dishes, or a bola for serving punch. They will work well for many different occasions, being a beautiful table decoration, for example, for Easter.
Decorations with bulb flowers are a very original solution that offers great possibilities. Minimalist enthusiasts can use flowers from a single color palette or even of the same species and color. An alternative is to use many plants with different shapes and colors, which will allow for a colorful and extremely diverse composition. Furthermore, floral decorations in glass can be complemented with moss, bark, or decorative stones, as well as other decorative elements appropriate for the occasion (e.g., a chick for Easter).
