Glass bowls are versatile dishes that can be used in many different ways. They are essential in every home – not only for elegant salad serving, but also for storage, to create unique table decorations or to help execute the most complex recipes from around the world. What is a salad bowl and how to use it?
Universal bowl
Useful for everyday and special tasks, present in almost every home – probably no one needs an explanation of what a salad bowl is. A glass, deep bowl or small bowl, despite its name, does not have to be used exclusively for serving salads, although it performs excellently in this role. A glass and interestingly shaped, transparent dish is perfect for serving a rich, layered appetizer or a light and fresh vegetable salad. On the other hand, double or triple bowls are a great idea for enjoying fruits, nuts, cherry tomatoes, etc., both during parties and on a daily basis.
The features that distinguish a salad bowl made of glass are its ease of cleaning, durability, dishwasher-safe properties, decorative appearance, and clarity that highlights what's inside. These advantages make it extremely versatile and useful not only for serving delicious, elegant salads. What else can it be used for?
Decoration for every season
A simple or decorative glass bowl is an ideal base for creating decorations for every season. A centerpiece placed on a table or dresser, once one season passes, is quickly disassembled to make way for the next. Its base - a bowl washed in the dishwasher or sink - can be almost immediately used to prepare another ornament!
Before Easter or to bring a spring mood into the room, a salad bowl and more, can be filled with paper Easter eggs or white pebbles surrounding a pot with a blooming crocus. In summer, instead of a plant, simply place a pillar candle in the center and layer sand, colorful pebbles, and shells around it. When autumn arrives, after a quick wash, you can pour mixed acorns and chestnuts into the bowl, replacing the candle with a new one – ideally with a cinnamon or orange scent. Finally, in winter, just before Christmas, the salad bowl can hold pinecones and baubles with battery-operated lights tucked between them, whose glow will charmingly reflect off the glass sides of the bowl.
Practical storage
Useful not only in the kitchen, a glass bowl also offers practical space organization. Thanks to its transparency, which allows you to see what's inside, and the glass's full hygiene properties, it's perfect for longer-term storage of both food and items that are more or less needed daily.
A small salad bowl – such a dish can, for example, be placed near the exit door and used for putting away keys, loose change, or mints. In the bathroom, it can hold cotton pads or smaller jewelry, such as wedding rings and earrings.
A larger glass bowl is useful for storing vegetables or fruits on the dining table and kitchen counter. It will also work as... a flowerpot, minimalist yet original and unusual, highlighting the beauty of plants like coffee trees, succulents, or aloes.
Cooking support
Useful not only for serving, glass bowls should always be at hand when preparing meals! What can they be used for?
A glass bowl in the kitchen cupboard, thanks to its durability, will be useful for whipping egg whites for meringue or whipped cream. Such bowls are resistant to refrigerator cold and fit perfectly between shelves. Pizza dough rising in them will easily peel off the glass sides. You can prepare sandwich spreads in them or store semi-finished products. Regardless of the task, this dish can be cleaned in just a few moments!
